01

Wireframing and prototypes

Wireframing involves designing the layout of screens and the main user interactions with the product. In other words, this is when we create a prototype or framework for the game. By doing this, we can envision the structure of the interface before even starting to work on the visual design.

We create wireframes of all the key screens in the game interface, from the main menu to inventory and settings, and plan out the optimal user journey in advance.

From there, we use these wireframes to develop a clickable prototype and evaluate our interactions with the different interface elements. This process helps us avoid having to tweak anything once we’ve developed the completed design.

In this way, we’re able to assess the usability of the game in advance, and ensure that it is user friendly.

02

Customer journey map

The customer journey map is a detailed visualization of a user’s journey through the product from start to finish. These maps are especially important for video game development, as the gamer will go through many stages of interaction with the interface.

At this stage, we analyze the target player’s entire journey through the product, starting from the first time they launch the game. We consider all of the main interface touchpoints, including the screens, menus, and UI elements.

Based on this analysis, we are able to create a detailed diagram that visualizes the user’s path, allowing us to identify any potential challenges in terms of interaction.

UX/UI
detailing

UX/UI detailing

Once the wireframes have been approved, we can begin the full process of detailing each and every screen in the game interface.

This stage involves:

  1. Designing each screen in complete detail, including the menus, settings, player profile, inventory, etc.
  2. Developing the style of interface elements, such as buttons, sliders, switches, and lists
  3. Selecting and creating the necessary icons, illustrations, and backgrounds
  4. Creating fonts, as well as text and information blocks
  5. Designing the interface of the in-game HUD (heads-up display)
  6. Adapting the interface for different resolutions and platforms
  7. Detailing the interface screens according to the project design
  8. Evaluating usability and user experience at every step
